On the second day of your trip to Nepal, you'll start preparing for your trek with the help of our experienced team. One of our representatives will remind you to get all the necessary permits and provide us with a copy of your trek insurance policy. You'll also meet your team leader and other support professionals who will check your trekking gear to ensure that it meets the requirements. After early morning breakfast, we will take a public tourist bus to Pokhara. The drive will takes approximately 7 hours which takes you through the scenic and winding road of Prithvi Highway that runs adjacent to Trishuli river upto Mugling and from Mugling, your trip is accompanied by Marsyangdi river.

Take an early breakfast and get ready for the trekking. Today you will first take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you will be starting your trekking. The trail from Nayapul is an easy trail where you walk through the stone-paved steps passing several small villages.  We will begin a 30 mins trek comprising a downhill descend through the classical forest of rhododendron along the banks of Modi River to reach Birethanti (1,015 m). It is a small village with many established shops and teahouses. Continuing the journey, we will be trekking for 5-6 hours on the trail that continues to the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola and move up steeply to Hille (1,495 m). Eventually, the trail leads to Tikhedhunga (1,540 m) after a short climb. On the way, you will observe the eye-catching view of rice and millet fields. After crossing the Tikhedunga Khola on the suspension bridge, the trail begins to climb up quite steeply on a stone staircase that is more than 3200 steps. After climbing the hilltop we can see Mt. Annapurna south (7219 m.) and Hiunchuli (6441 m.). Enjoy the magnificent view of the mighty Himalayas from the hilltop of Ulleri. Overnight stay at Ulleri.

A tough yet wonderful trekking day. Today you will be trekking through the dense rhododendron forest. The hiking will be more special if it is in the spring as the rhododendron blooms around with seven colors. Upon you reach Ghorepani, you will forget all the pains you had during the walking as the mountain views are just perfect and refreshing. Enjoy a hot cup of tea with awe-inspiring views of the mountains. Overnight at the teahouse.

The best day of trekking. Wake up early morning, take your torchlight and start hiking up to Poon Hill (3,210 m) before the first ray of sun hits the ground as you don't want to miss the best opportunity to view the first rays of the sun kissing the snow-capped mountain. It takes one hour to get up to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. At Poon Hill, you can collect the superb sunrise view of sunrays embracing the top of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges. After spending some time admiring the sunrise, we will descend to Ghorepani. At Ghorepani, we will have our breakfast and we will start descending towards Tadapani. We will continue our descend for about 3-4 hours from Tadapani to reach Ghandruk. Ghandruk is one of the most beautiful places with beautiful and vibrant Gurung culture, foods, etc. that lies at the lap of the Annapurna range. Ghandruk has a lot to offer if you want to stroll around the village, the people, Gurung culture, landscapes, etc. Overnight at Ghandruk.

The final day of this trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul is approximately 13 km. The first 7 km is a gradual descent of 900 m with stone-paved stairs and a nice trail. Then the trail continues on a dirt road wide enough for smaller vehicles that go parallel with the river. We will stop for lunch at Birethanti and rest a bit and head back to the dusty trail for the final 2 km to reach Nayapul. In total, the trek will be about 6 hours, including stops.

Alternatively, you can go East, down & up across the river to Landruk, and take a more difficult trail South-West to Birethani. This trail has more ups & downs when it follows the more deeply carved East mountainside.

From Nayapul, we will take a bus or taxi to reach Pokhara which will take about 2 hrs. Upon reaching Pokhara you will be transferred to your hotel. Get fresh, rest a bit and start wandering through the vibrant streets of lakeside for a different environment. Enjoy your night at Pokhara

An extra day in Pokhara is always worthwhile. Do boating on Phewa Lake, visit Tal Barahi Temple, Gupteshwor cave plus the Devis Falls this day. You can also do several other adventure sports including Paragliding, Ultralight, Bungee Jumping, Zip Flyer or you can just rent a mountain bike and paddle around the City of the Lakes. Enjoy the free day. Overnight at the hotel. In the evening stroll around the lakeside to buy some souvenirs, enjoy a variety of food, lots of pubs and bars to hang out and many more. By Tourist Bus: - As your bus leaves early morning at 8 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, the bus will stop for lunch.
By Private Vehicle: - You can also drive back with a private vehicle. Our company arranges private vehicle transportation to Kathmandu at our client's request. You are requested to add the request for the private vehicle while making the booking.
By Flight: Those who do not want to travel overland, or want to skip the long journey on the bumpy road can choose this option. The Flight will take around 30 minutes to get to Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, you can do some last shopping in Thamel. Overnight at the hotel.

How difficult is this Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking ?

Since this Ghorepani-Poonhill trekking is the easiest trekking route, there is no big risk of difficulties. You can easily reach to your destination by walking 4 - 6 hours a day. Passing through various forests and villages, you might have to walk steep sections and relatively flat sections. Roads are somewhere so muddy and rocky whereas some paved with stones. 
However ,you must be in good physical condition before starting any trek. You must take all the necessary clothing and equipment with you, stay hydrated and take some rest when tired.

  • The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a circuit in the lower part of the Annapurna Range. The highlight is reaching the summit viewpoint of Poon Hill itself at sunrise and seeing the panoramic views of the famous Annapurna region including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhare and Manaslu.

Ghorepani itself is a village in central Nepal at an elevation of approximately 2874 meters (9429 ft) within the Annapurna Conservation Area.

  • Except in Monsoon, every time throughout the year is suitable to trek this route. But it can be done in Monsoon too if you are fully prepared for rain. The best time we recommend is From April to May and September to early December. During this time, the weather is super fine with clean blue sky and temperature is not too cold and not too hot. At the highest point of this trek, the maximum temperature reaches up to 18 Degree Celsius to 21 Degree Celsius. The minimum temperature may drop to 4-5 degree Celsius at morning. 

  • The Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is graded as easy trekking trail. The path is well trodden except some parts where it might be rocky and uneven. You will be ascending/ descending through steps as well. There is no need for any type of special equipment to trek through this region.

  • Yes, Electricity and Wi-Fi service are available in every resting place throughout this trail, However, the tea house charges you a little amount for using Wi-Fi and charging your gadgets
