Annapurna Base Camp Trek Overview

Annapurna Base Camp trekking rewards you with a unique and diverse range of climates, vegetation with colorful local culture within a short time frame, which is why this trek is preferred by most trekkers. Annapurna Base Camp trekking starts from the low warm sub-tropical valley of beautiful Pokhara, a touristic spot blessed with the natural scenery of mountains and lakes, leading into high green hills covered within lovely cool alpine forest laden with tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, pines and fir trees. The way to the base camp of Annapurna is a part of the Great Himalayan Trails.

Most Popular places from every aspect like Ghandruk, Poon Hill, Dhampus, Chhomrong, and Annapurna Base Camp can be visited on a single route to ABC. We can have a spectacular view of sunrise from the top hills of many places that come on our way to the base camp of the massive Annapurna. We can have a close view of seasonal Agricultural farmland and villages.

Alternative Solar power for electricity can be found in Ghandruk and Chhomrong. Nowadays public transportation to Ghandruk has also started which takes about 10 hours from Kathmandu.

The hot spring at Jhinu Danda is quite famous for its hot water bath, popularly known as Tatopani among Nepali People. We will be following the Modi river for our journey to Annapurna Base Camp. We can analyze the view of massive mountains such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, etc.

This is a place that is rich in its bio-diversity, culture, food, and lifestyle. Around 20,000 people are staying in this area. Tradition culture along with their cultural dress can be seen on our route. Lots of flora and fauna especially, Yarsagumba can be found in this trekking route. Himalayan herbs, which can cure many diseases, are found growing in the wild in the Annapurna Conservation area. It is one of Nepal's oldest conservation areas, established by the late King Mahendra in 1986.

In spring and summer times the area will be spectacular when wildflowers are in full bloom with a riot of colors covering the hills of Annapurna Himalaya to its base camp in the heart of Sanctuary. The walk is not overly difficult with some uphill and downhill to encounter as you explore traditional Gurung villages along the way within the typical heartland of Nepal.

Once you enter Annapurna Base Camp, you will find the Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded by an amphitheater of snow peaks from Annapurna (26,545ft/8,091 m), Annapurna south (23,693ft/7,219 m), Gangapurna (24,457ft/7,455 m) and Annapurna III (24,787ft/7,555 m) with magnificent Machapuchare Himal (Fish-tail).
