Langtang & Gosainkund trekking, a fabulous journey that leads north of Kathmandu valley 
with an exciting overland drive to reach Langtang Himal areas within the district of Rasuwa populated mostly by the Tamang tribe of hill people.

Langtang & Gosainkund trekking begins with an interesting drive past farm villages and towns of Kakani-Trisuli Bazaar to reach Dhunche town, the door of many treks and adventures around Langtang and Ganesh Himal areas.
Gosainkund regarded is as a holy pond where the great religious festival takes place once a year in the monsoon times of August. Great numbers of pilgrims as far from India visit here for a dip in the holy lakes.
After an enjoyable and fascinating time at Gosainkund, this walk leads to cross a high and scenic pass over Gosainkund and Laurabina-La pass above 4,609 m / 15,209 ft facing views of a mountain range and then heading towards the eastern suburb of Kathmandu valley rim hills for the drive back to Kathmandu.
The walk leads up and down through several nice farm villages with constant views of Langtang –Ganesh and Jugal mountains with striking sunrise from Chisapani before ending our fabulous walks with an adventure of a lifetime experience on Langtang & Gosainkund Trekking.

Langtang-Gosainkunda trek is the third most popular and one of the easiest and most beautiful treks in Nepal. The Langtang region is packed with rare flora and fauna and varied landscapes to lure any trekkers. The trail runs through different landscapes and places of interest, dense forests, lowlands, windy trails, and many more. Dense rhododendron forest on either side of the river accompany you until it breaks from the tree line and then into the alpine region further and higher into the beautiful mountain valleys of upper Langtang with the highest viewpoint at Kyanjin Ri (5000 m approx from sea level). Gosainkunda lake is considered sacred to religious people of Hinduism and Buddhism. During August, many Hindu pilgrims flock to the Gosaikunda lake to pay homage to Lord Shiva. The trial then continues towards Lauri Binayak and then descends to Chisapani.

  • The length of time that is usually required to do the Langtang Valley Trek is 7-10 days. Almost all the normal itineraries are 8-9 days and include travel time from Kathmandu. The length of time thus allows one to acclimate properly and view some important locations such as Kyanjin Gompa and Tsergo Ri.

  • The Langtang Valley has recovered a lot from the earthquake in 2015. The village is rebuilt, often described as more beautiful and better managed than before. The routes for trekkers have been improved with stone stairs in many sections, so they are safer and more accessible. The resiliency of the local community turned what had been a devastated area into an inspiring destination combining natural beauty and human power.

  • You can drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, from where the actual Langtang trek starts. This drive takes approximately 6-7 hours. From Syabrubesi, the trek starts on foot. There is no direct road access to higher points on the trek, including Langtang Village.

  • The Langtang region lies approximately 80 km north of Kathmandu. The journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek, takes about 6-8 hours by road, depending on traffic and the condition of the road.

  • The best months for the Langtang Trek are from March to May during spring and from October up to the beginning of December during autumn.

  • Yes, permits are required of Nepalese nationals to do the Langtang trek, though at a more affordable cost than that charged to foreign visitors. They need to obtain the Langtang National Park entry permit.

    Langtang Valley Permit Cost: The cost of obtaining the Langtang National Park entry permit is about NPR 3000 (approximately USD 25). A person also needs a TIMS card; this costs approximately NPR 2000 (USD 17) in the case of individual trekkers and NPR 1000 (USD 8) in the case of trekkers going with an agency. Nepalese nationals pay a reduced fee of NPR 100 for the park entry. Children below the age of 10 years do not require permits.

  • Langtang trek is completely safe, as safe as any mountain trek can be. The Langtang area has been rebuilt since the earthquake in 2015, and trails have improved. Trekkers have to be informed, though, of altitude sickness as a possible issue, fast-changing weather conditions, and proper equipment and guidance.

  • Not necessarily . But hiring a guide will help you in different ways. If you are trekking in peak season , it might be difficult for you to get rooms due to limited tea houses. There are waypoints in most of the trekking trail but some part of the trails are mixed up and you may get lost. Another most important thing is you don't need to worry about language barrier for communication with locals. A guide can pass information about historical and cultural importance of many places as well . And there are chances of encountering snow leopard as well . So it is recommended to hire a guide while doing Langtang Valley Trek.

  • The maximum altitude that you can reach in Langtang Valley Trek is Kyanjin Ri (4500m). But, if you want to extend the Langtang Trek to one more night, then you can reach ever higher altitude – Tserko Ri (5000m). From the top, you can view the amazing mountains and valley. 

  • Langtang Valley Trek is one of the easy trekking destinations of Nepal. With frequent tea houses and way-point along the routes , there is less to no chances of going off the trail. However , if you are not prepared enough , the continuous uphill hiking may give your muscles some trouble. So it is recommend to be prepared physically and mentally before trekking into Himalayas.

    Every package you choose will have a certain amount of difficulties you may have to face. At an altitude of 3540 meters, the Langtang village has fewer chances of altitude sickness. However, as we move on to the Kyanjin Gompa and Tsergo Ri at the highest altitude of 4985 meters, there are chances of acute altitude sickness.The Langtang trek difficulty may be from the weather or other natural reasons but they may also be caused due to your lack of preparations.
