Everest Base Camp Trek by Road is an even more intimate version of the classic trek that does not include flying to Lukla. Starting from Kathmandu through local jeeps via frequent stops at checkposts to Kharikhola, the actual trek starts from a place named Tham Dada via villagers, catching glimpses of villages and various landscapes. Later, it meets the standard Everest Base Camp Route at Phakding.
This can be beneficial in a number of ways in this road-based approach: one has less altitude sickness since one starts ascending at a comparatively lower altitude, thus allowing gradual acclimatisation. There is a better chance of feeling deeper cultural insights along with the extended route and hence coming to understand the local communities and varied cultures of Nepal's hill regions. It also allows wide variation in landscapes to be trekked-from subtropical areas to high-altitude Himalayas. Besides, saving the flight to Lukla is cost-effective.
Safety and adventure combined in one well-researched itinerary of the given trek: it includes acclimatisation days, crosses famous places such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and Dingboche en route to arriving at Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres. Kala Patthar marks the highest point of the trek at an altitude of 5,555 metres above sea level, with a clear, panoramic view of the Himalayan giants.
This trek is the best option for those trek lovers who are very fit and can walk 5 to 6 hours daily; this trek is preferable from March to May and December. If you are properly guided and prepared, then Everest Base Camp by Road - Without Flight is really a lifetime adventure into one of the most beautiful mountain terrains on earth, which gives you the best opportunity to have a closer look at different stages of the expedition to reach the first on the top of the world.
